A game originally called “Number Place” was renamed when it became popular in Japan in the 1980s to “Sudoku” meaning “single number” in Japanese.
Thus this explains the Japanese theme to the game.
Set in a backdrop of a Japanese landscape, with a peaceful sound of running water and spiritual music, sits an old ancient book in which the game of Sudoku takes place.
The game starts with 4 numbers already in place, one in each corner.
To play select the jade number tiles and place on the required grid blocks.
A move is considered invalid if the number tile placement results in any row / column / box having duplicate numbers. An invalid number costs a life. You start with 3 lives in total.
There is also a useful yin-yang tile, which can be used as a wildcard placement and can be used in place of any number.
By completing a row, column or box you get bonus points and if you complete the board before the time runs out you get an extra bonus.
An enchanting puzzle game that I actually find quite relaxing!
